Science and Communities
This programme provides the necessary scientific grounds for the creation, extension and management of Marine Protected Areas, for the support of communication programmes on the importance and appropriate use thereof and for the improvement of management of fisheries. To this end, agreements are entered into with scientists, research institutions and interested donors.
Furthermore, MarViva brings a social component into its programmes, by working hand in hand with coastal communities; it offers training in better practices in fishing and tourism and helps identify and develop productive alternatives to reduce the pressure on coastal-marine resources, thus improving the quality of life of the inhabitants.
