Immersed in Change: MarViva’s efforts to protect the sea

The High-Level Event on Ocean Action: Immersed in Change was held in San José, Costa Rica, on June 7 and 8, 2024.

The meeting brought together authorities, experts, and members of civil society from around the world. The Immersed in Change agenda seeks to accelerate actions to reach Sustainable Development Goal 14, which is to “conserve and sustainably utilize the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.”

As part of the activity, the MarViva Foundation participated in panels and accompanying events and an informative stand for attendees. MarViva participated in topics such as Protection for the High Seas, Thermal Dome, ocean mining, productive alternatives, responsible fishing, reduction of plastic pollution, and technologies for the responsible use of the sea and its resources.

“At MarViva, we reiterate our commitment to protecting the ocean and promoting the sustainable use of its resources. This event was an opportunity to share our experience of over twenty years and to generate synergies with allies on a national and international level”, highlighted Katherine Arroyo, executive director of MarViva Foundation.
