During the Third UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3), held in Nice, France, the MarViva Foundation stood out as a key player in promoting solutions for the conservation of offshore marine ecosystems, with special emphasis on the Thermal Dome.
This key event brought together global leaders, scientists, academia, and civil society organizations with a common goal: to drive urgent solutions for the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans.
During the conference, MarViva representatives participated in thematic panels, dialogue tables, and side events, where their participation provided technical perspectives and regional experiences on ocean governance, the effectiveness of the 30×30 goal, fisheries traceability, and management in marine spaces beyond national jurisdiction.
“UNOC3 is a crucial platform for scaling up international commitments to protect offshore ecosystems. From MarViva, we promote an informed, regionally articulated collective action that recognizes the strategic value of the ocean for climate resilience”, said Katherine Arroyo, Executive Director of MarViva Foundation.
