The purpose of this publication is to divulge, in a didactic and easy to understand format, the current fisheries and aquaculture legislation in Panama, enacted in the year 2021. The target audience is the authorities, fishing sectors, ship owners, fish farmers, traders, collaborators in the processing and distribution chain, scientists, students and civil society in general, under the premise that “ignorance of the Law does not exempt from its compliance”. Thus, this editorial contribution of Marviva Foundation seeks to contribute to the understanding of the law, which aims at achieving sustainability in fishing and aquaculture activities, in a way that ensures the conservation, reproduction, production, renewal, and permanence of the aquatic resources being exploited.
