The Costa Rica Thermal Dome is a critical area for marine biodiversity in the
Eastern Tropical Pacific. It is located in western-Central America and can
measure between 300 and 1000 kilometers in width.

SE DEFINE?
El Domo Térmico es un sistema de surgencia generado por la acción de los vientos alisios y la interacción de tres corrientes marinas: la Contra Corriente Ecuatorial del Norte (CCEN), la Corriente Costera de Costa Rica (CCCR) y la Corriente Ecuatorial del Norte (CEN). Además, está influenciado por la migración latitudinal de una banda de baja presión atmosférica conocida como la Zona de Convergencia Intertropical (ZCIT).
